I was lucky enough to spend the recent heatwave in Cornwall and it felt like a proper holiday! England really does have some beautiful locations and you don't always need to go abroad. I actually lived in Cornwall a while back and I really wish I had appreciated it more while I was there.
Jack and I met at Falmouth University so it was lovely coming back to visit our old haunts together, 10 years after we graduated. In fact, graduations were taking place last week so we might even have been there for the actual anniversary! (I can't remember when my actual graduation was but early July sounds right.)
I took a mini capsule wardrobe with me, working with a colour palette of sage green, cream and tan, with this 1 yellow dress thrown in since it has green and cream in the pattern.
When in Cornwall, one must always visit a tearoom. I was limited to dog-friendly establishments but luckily there are quite a few of those in Falmouth. I enjoyed a blueberry bakewell in Ragamuffin's, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce in Palacio Lounge and there was also a lovely market in the square which Pepper and I enjoyed perusing. (Pepper got so many compliments! She is the cutest dog and gets so much attention wherever we go.)
Usually when Pepper comes away with us, we have to have dinner in pubs or get takeaways, but there is actually a seafood restaurant in Falmouth that allows dogs - The Seafood Bar. The tapas dishes were phenomenal - we had lobster roll, scallops, crab fries and monkfish. Afterwards, instead of having dinner at the restaurant, we had pistachio and Sicilian almond ice cream from an Italian ice cream parlour on the high street. Delicious!
I of course had to take my 'out of office' hat with me to protect my head from the sun, while still looking glamorous! There are so many beaches in Cornwall. My favourite was one I found in Mawnan Smith, a secluded beach at the end of a woodland walk. I had to be careful that Pepper didn't get too hot, so this beach was perfect since the woods were so shaded and I was able to find a shady spot on the beach itself for us to relax together.
I rarely visit Cornwall since it's such a long way away but I'm going back in October for more walks down Memory Lane!
