People started going on staycations out of necessity during covid but personally I've always loved exploring my own country. My favourite place in the world is Seahouses, Northumberland and we managed to get back there this year after several cancelled trips.
Seahouses itself was booked up so we stayed in nearby Beadnell. The Airbnb we stayed in was practically ON the beach - less than a minute away I think! It was wonderful walking barefoot in the sand in the golden evening light.
As Northumberland is more of a practical outfits place than a chic one, I didn't pack many romantic, feminine outfits but I wish I had as the weather was glorious. (We got some beautiful video content with the outfits I did wear. Make sure you're following me on Instagram and YouTube to see those.)
A soft cream knit and a pleated midi skirt is my favourite type of Spring outfit. The weather is so unpredictable this season so if you were to wear jeans, you might overheat, whereas a midi skirt regulates your temperature more efficiently. My cream rollneck jumper is from Lilysilk and this pretty pistachio-coloured skirt is from Chicwish.
My no.1 favourite thing about going on holiday is the FOOD!
Sadly prices have rocketed so we skipped out our usual haunts for new finds: The Craster Arms in Beadnell, a tasty fish 'n' chip van that also did breakfast right near our Airbnb and The Castle Inn in Bamburgh.
Prices are harder to predict around Seahouses now (food used to be so cheap there!) but the portions are still enormous so you won't feel ripped off.
On the last evening, my husband Jack and I visited the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle in Craster. We got there when the evening light was at its finest and I said to Jack, 'Look how beautiful England is.' I was really struck by the contentment I feel when I go on staycations to gorgeous parts of my own country. (I do have a very exciting MALDIVES trip later this year though!)
We got some stunning drone footage of me walking towards the castle ruins in my white dress from Silkfred. Make sure you're following me on Instagram and YouTube to see that!
Being long with flared sleeves, this dress works well for warmer Spring days and makes me feel so romantic and cottagecore-y!
We have plenty of trips booked this year so I'll be back here showing you pictures and chatting to you about my outfits. Our next one is London for our 10-year anniversary so I'm currently compiling my outfit plans for that - look forward to a glam evening look especially!
